Newest Technology For Classroom Instruction

The Santa Barbara Community College (SBCC) Faculty Resource Center hosted a two week-long hands on workshop in order to train faculty and staff in the newest technology resources that are available for online, hybrid and Web-enhanced campus-based classes. The college considers this training necessary to effectively reach today's student who lives in a world that is saturated with technology.

By retooling their faculty, they will have an enhanced ability to help students succeed, and this is especially true when it comes to the college's distance learning courses. SBCC's Human Presence Learning Environment is the school's digital education platform. It utilizes a customized Moodle interface to enable personal and live interaction via computer. During the workshops, educators learned and practiced technologies including Skype, Twitter, Wimba Voice Tools, Elluminate/CCC Confer, Jing, and Flip Cam.
