Airport Tech News

Airports in the US have been making tech news ever since September 11th, as they were forced by the threat of terrorism to upgrade their technology in an attempt to make air travel safer. A decade later, and airports have been successful in patching many security holes with cutting edge technical solutions.

Airports across the country have implemented advanced technologies like X-ray backscatter scanners that enable TSA agents to avoid strip searches of passengers thanks to the detailed level of imaging they make possible. The newest equipment still in development promises to eliminate the hassle of removing coats and footwear and tossing your bottled water to go through security, speeding up checkpoint times significantly. At LAX's Terminal Five, Siemens AG has just installed new baggage screening equipment that speeds up the baggage check in process significantly.
